From CBN News.

An American woman has given the gift of a fresh start to the mother of her late son’s best friend.

Anjie Lynchard and Mary Ann Carroll raised their boys, Jared and Phillip, in a Maryland neighbourhood where the two became fast friends.

“They’d go fishing or they would go bike riding. They were just constantly together,” Anjie told CBN News

Three years later, the Lynchards moved, and the families lost touch.

A FAMILY TRAGEDY BRINGS TWO MOTHERS CLOSER TOGETHER

Last year, the Lynchards’ world turned upside down with the sudden death of their 23-year-old son Jared who was a Lance Corporal in the US Marines.

Mary Ann heard about her friend’s tragic loss and prayed about how to best support the family.

She bought a prayer shawl and went to deliver it to their home.

When Anjie opened the door, she noticed Mary Ann did not look the same.

ONE MOTHER NEEDED A LIFE-SAVING LIVER TRANSPLANT

She was suffering from end-stage liver disease.

“I first found out that I had a rare disease called secondary sclerosing cholangitis, which requires a transplant,” Mary Ann told CBN News.

The Lynchards then took a mission trip to Costa Rica in honour of their son.

When they returned, Anjie began to pray about the next opportunity to further advance the Gospel.

THE OTHER MOTHER WAS A PERFECT MATCH TO DONATE A LIVER

Meanwhile, as Mary Ann’s condition deteriorated, she felt a nudge from the Lord to share with people outside her family that she desperately needed a donor.

That was the first post Anjie saw when she came back from her mission trip.

She did some research and soon found out she was a perfect match.

Mary Ann shared: “When the results showed that Anjie was a match for me, I realised that I was going to get a second chance at life, and it was an amazing feeling.”

GOD INTERVENES TO DISPEL ANY DOUBTS

Both women still had doubts about the transplant.

But God intervened and laid their fears to rest after Angie and Steve attended a seminar for military families who had lost a loved one.

A recipient of a donor liver looked at Anjie and said: “You are doing such a wonderful thing.” And she gave Anjie a big hug.

“The fleeting moment of doubt went out the window — like what are the odds of that?” Anjie asked.

“GOD WILL LOOK AFTER YOU”

The transplant was successful and four months later, both women have recovered.

Mary Ann says she has gotten a fresh start and agrees that God used a childhood friendship to write a remarkable story.

She encouraged others facing hard battles to give their burdens to Jesus.

“He will look after you,” she declared.
